If you don’t look after your pet’s paws, they could encounter no end of problems. From cuts to sores, there’s a whole host of things that you will surely want to avoid. But wait a minute, how on earth do you start? Well, you’ve come to the right place. Luckily for you, we have just five little tips that will help you keep your dog’s paws healthy.

  1. Give your puppy a paw massage!

This might sound a little weird, but it will do wonders for your dog. Now and then, it’s just nice to give something back to your pet. Softly massaging your dog’s paws will promote blood flow and actually help your pup to relax. What could be better than that?

  1. Trim the fur around the paws

If you have a longhaired dog, you need to watch out for the fur around their paws. Often, this hair can get mangled and tangled. That could easily cause a whole load of issues for your pet. Take some pet scissors and trim the hair in this area. It may just make all the difference.

  1. And keep those claws trimmed too

While we’re on the subject of trimming things down, you should of course make sure that your keep your pet’s claws trimmed at all times. When they become overgrown, you will find that they encounter problems. Keep an eye on them at all times and make sure that they don’t become unmanageable.

  1. Take care in harsh weather

When the weather is super hot or cold, you need to make sure that you think about your dog and their paws. If your puppy has to walk on snow or even just hot concrete, it could hurt them. While you’re out walking, be sure to watch out for this problem. Look for ‘safe places’ where your dog has a clear pathway.
