Volunteers Give Up 4th Of July To Calm Kentucky Humane Society Animals

The Kentucky Humane Society is based in Louisville and has been around for a very long time. So, those who work there know that the 4th of July celebrations might frighten their animals. Did you know that the organization started in 1844? Well, this holiday weekend, generous souls gave up their celebrations, and instead, they went to keep the animals company.

Compassionate Kentucky Humane Society Never Euthanizes Animals

Many shelters exist that take abandoned animals. Sometimes, though, animals fill up the space and many of them end up euthanized. That’s why it’s important that people consider taking on a rescue pup rather than buying from breeders. Actually, some dogs end up so traumatized that before shelters find a home, they need time with normal families. Fortunately, plenty of volunteers foster animals to help them live forever lives.

The Kentucky Humane Society seems committed to finding homes for every animal that arrives. So, they differ from kill shelters. Clearly, the community supports the ambition, as many people voluntarily gave up their 4th of July party to soothe the animals. Actually, even dogs left at home might end up anxious and try and flee scary fireworks during the holiday celebrations.

Kentucky Humane Society Volunteers Interact With Animals On 4th Of July

On the organization’s Instagram account, photos appeared that showed various volunteers reading to some dogs According to the caption, “they also played with our kitties, read stories to the dogs while soft music played, fed everyone treats and sat with them so the animals wouldn’t be alone.”

The Kentucky Humane Society post also said, “A massive thank you to the dedicated volunteers who came out to KHS last night to help comfort our shelter animals during the 4th of July fireworks.” In the comments section, many other people also thanked the volunteers for thinking about the dogs and cats who might have been traumatized.

‘Loving Angels’

Followers of the Kentucky Humane Society on Instagram said some really nice things about the way people thought of the shelter animals. One commenter wrote, “Thank you for being loving angels to all those sweet babies 😍😍😍😍.”

Another one noted, “That is absolutely amazing.” This comment also arrived: “This is so incredibly sweet ❤️.”

Everyone knows that most people watch parades on the 4th of July. Or, they go out for entertainment and watch the fireworks. Alternatively, they gather with family and friends and barbecue before they light their own fireworks. So, it does seem “sweet” that some people gave up their own celebrations to spend time within the shelter. Do you agree?  Each year, many traumatized animals that run away end up inside shelters.
