Labrador Retriever Fred Fosters Cute Ducklings – Goes Viral

Mountfitchet Castle and Norman Village of 1066 has a Labrador Retriever named Fred. No youngster, he just loves adopting orphaned ducklings. This year, he became daddy to 15 of them. And, it’s not the first time. Apparently, he’s done it multiple times. Well, animal lovers who can’t get enough of dogs and baby ducks got a treat this weekend when adorable photos emerged across social media.

Labrador Retriever Fred Is Great With Adopted Ducklings

The breed is well known for being very affectionate, and generally, they get on well with kids. Often, they make for a preferred family furbaby and they tend to tolerate other dogs. In this case, Fred more than tolerates baby ducks: he can’t seem to get enough of being a doggie dad to them. Actually, adoption stories often seem very sweet, especially, when they cross different species.

The news about Mountfitchet Castle’s Labrador Retriever comes along to charm people just weeks after Olivia Akers’ pup, Max adopted a lamb. That went viral and brought a lot of smiles. Actually, super cute, the lamb grew up and went to live in the fields with the other sheep. But, whenever they get together, a lot of fun and games ensue. This time, the ducks will probably also grow up but it’s a good bet that they stay in touch with Fred.

Mountfitchet Castle In Sussex is An Open Museum

On Facebook, the folks who run the cattle shared some very adorable photos of Fred and his many ducks. Actually, there are a lot of photos and ducks at the museum. Popular, the place offers many attractions like life-sized dinos and a massive collection of toys. And then, there’s Fred the friendly duck dad. In the caption about Fred’s latest adoption, it said, “Our doting 15 year old Fred has become a Foster parent for the second time in 5 years.”

The caption also noted that the Labrador Retriever took on dad duties “to 15 orphaned ducklings 🐥 🥰🥰.” The original news arrived on July 5, and on July 10, an update arrived which you cans see below:

Naturally, folks on Facebook have a lot to say. However, some major news outlets picked up the story and Fred appeared in magazines as far away as Europe and the USA. So, he quickly went viral on social media platforms.
