Queen Elizabeth passed away on September 8, 2022, and the British people went into mourning. However, animal lovers know that the monarch adored her Corgi dogs. So, what happens to them now? After all, Prince Phillip also passed away. So, who will take them on and save them from living amongst the common people? Did you know that the mom of Prince Charles got her first Corgi at the age of 18? And, she owned about 30 in her lifetime.
Recently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did something that for once, didn’t seem controversial. In fact, if you don’t yet know the story, they adopted one of the Beagles that were rescued from a life in captivity as lab dogs. Knowing his grandma’s love for pooches, Harry probably takes good care of the new addition to the family. Of course, like his brother William, he might not have been too keen on getting a Corgi. Did you know that Prince William doesn’t like that they seem to bark a lot?
William might not like Corgis, but Queen Elizabeth adored them. So clearly, she hesitated about appointing him as the new dad of her pups. As these upper-crust dogs are unlikely to end up adopted into the world of the average person, where did she want them housed after her death? Well, she probably considered that she didn’t want them out of their comfort zone. And yes, it is a very comfortable zone. After all, their lifestyle involved a qualified chef who prepared their upper-class cuisine.
As the years passed, the monarch scaled back on the number of dogs that she kept. Mindful of her approaching death, she didn’t want to leave her pups bereft. Apparently, she had four when she died. One of them was gifted to her on the late Prince Phillip’s birthday by Prince Andrew. People Magzine didn’t mention where two of the dogs go, but they did talk about Andrew and Fergie taking on at least two of them.
Over on Instagram, when People shared the news about the dogs that Queen Elizabeth owned, some people wondered what would happen with the other two dogs. Someone mentioned that Princess Ann will take them. However, it’s not that easy to verify at the moment. The last time that Princess Anne made the headlines with the royal dogs came in 2003, when reportedly, her dog, a bull terrier savaged one of her mom’s dogs to death.
Some folks on Instagram had no idea that Fergie loved dogs and that they helped her form a bond with Queen Elizabeth. Meanwhile, others had no idea that Andrew and his wife still lived together. Recall, they divorced ages ago. However, they live in the same home and pretty much carry on as man and wife.
Fans of the royal family seem to feel relieved that the dogs will be with people that they know and trust. Additionally, it means that they have a secure future for now.
