Shelter Pup Named ‘Pawl Ruff’ After Ant-Man Star Gets New Home

Collierville Animal Shelter regularly shares photos of cute pups, looking for a forever home. This was particularly so relating to an Australian Shepherd mix shelter pup, originally named Waffle House. One of the shelter’s Facebook followers immediately noted several facial expressions that made the dog look similar to Ant-Man star, Paul Rudd. For a while, he was even known as Pawl Ruff. But he now has his own furever home.

When Collierville Animal Shelter shared beautiful images of a handsome dog, they immediately attracted attention on Facebook.

This was particularly so for Collierville resident Jennifer Roy, who noticed several of the dog’s facial expressions resembled Paul Rudd. Roy shared a compilation of Paul Rudd and lookalike dog photos to the shelter’s Facebook, which shared it on Twitter. Meanwhile, she also sent in her adoption application for the gorgeous pup.

This gorgeous hound might be confused by all the many and various names he has been given recently. Originally, his name was Waffle House, but when Roy shared the compilation of Paul Rudd photos, he became Pawl Ruff. However, once she got him home he was renamed Rowdy.

Rowdy is a two-year-old, 65-pound Australian Shepherd mix, and at one stage, the shelter thought Paul Rudd should adopt his lookalike, but it wasn’t to be. This was despite the fact Pawl Ruff made national and international news when the Daily Mail, People, and ET Canada got their hands on the story.

While the story had international appeal it was the website Commercial Appeal that reportedly was the first to share the story. Roy explained to the outlet that she had been looking for a dog and was following various shelters in the area. However, when she saw the Paul Rudd lookalike shelter dog, she immediately thought, “That’s my dog.”

However, as the story started going viral internationally, she was worried someone else would adopt the cute dog.

Jennifer Casey, Collierville public information officer said:

We did reach out to Paul Rudd’s publicists and asked if they would bring the story to his attention.

We did not expect him to adopt the dog, we just wanted the story to reach him! And if the story stops here, it is a very happy ending.

While Rowdy now has a new, loving furever home, Collierville Animal Shelter does have more cute dogs and cats just waiting to be adopted. Readers can visit the shelter’s website for more information.
