Police K9 Invokes ‘Fifth Amendment’ After Accused Of Stealing Officer’s Lunch

The Wyandotte Police Department (WPD) in Michigan recently had a problem in its ranks with one K9 officer. In a Facebook post, the WPD pointed out that one of its officers was guilty of “stealing.” Even worse, he was accused of stealing a fellow officer’s lunch. Meanwhile, Officer Ice decided to invoke the Fifth Amendment, or the Right To Remain Silent.

K9 Officer Ice accused of stealing

Recently, the WPD took to Facebook to share a story with the public, saying, “sunlight is the best disinfectant” for purging corruption in their ranks. In the post, they stated that their readers could determine for themselves if justice was served.

The post read:

It saddens me to report that a current officer of the Wyandotte Police Department is under investigation for stealing!

The WPD continued, writing that Officer Barwig was eating lunch in the breakroom when he was called to assist a person in the WPD jail. Barwig was quick to jump to service, leaving his half-eaten lunch on the table.

Apparently, a short while later, Barwig and another officer returned to the breakroom only to find Officer Ice, leisurely strolling from the room while licking his chops. In fact, the remains of Barwig’s lunch “was gone…disappeared, vanished!”

The post continued, saying Officer Ice had invoked his Fifth Amendment right to remain silent and, “quite frankly is not cooperating with the investigation.”

Meanwhile, the trusty K9 does have a history of dumpster diving for treats. Moreover, other officers have accused the naughty pooch of stealing food from their hands as they walk by.

The WPD then asked for their Facebook followers’ opinions on the crime and how to proceed with the investigation.

Officer Ice gets lunch for wrongful accusation

In a later post, the WPD updated the situation. They wrote that “dozens of attorneys have offered to defend Officer Ice pro-bono” (pun intended).

It was added that they have been threatened with massive protests if they move forward with their investigation and/or charges. The WPD stressed that the overall public doesn’t believe Officer Ice is guilty as no video had been produced.

Now, Officer Ice will face no internal discipline or criminal charges for his alleged actions. In fact, one of his loyal supporters, Lunch Wyandotte, delivered him a custom-made sandwich, as they felt the K9 wasn’t being fed enough. Meanwhile, Lunch Wyandotte also gave the other officers a tray of sandwiches to keep things fair. The WPD noted that “the public has spoken.”

Facebook followers react to the post

Among the many comments to the Facebook Post, one follower wrote, “Possession is 9/10th of the law. Case dismissed. Defamation case and belly rubs compensation awarded.”

Another wrote, “Innocent until proven Guilty. Besides that, look at that face. He couldn’t of [sic] done it.” Moreover, another fan of Officer Ice stood up for him, writing, “Sounds like entrapment to me. The case should be thrown out.”

A more recent post saw the trusty K9 officer wishing everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day – see the image above. As readers will note, he has a sandwich at his side.

While let’s face it, Ice probably couldn’t resist the tempting morsel on the table, it is only fair to drop the charges. Moreover, maybe someone should tell the officers to keep their food in a safe place. He’s only canine after all.
