What You Should Pack For A Dog Road TripSince the summer is here, many people are planning family road trips. If you’re travelling with your pet, though, you have to consider how your plans affect them. Much of the time, people fail to consider just what they will need to take for their dog! Here are some of the things that you really need to take along with you.

Collar and leash

It’s well worth taking a spare collar and leash when you travel. You never know what will happen and when you will need these things. Make sure that you have a quality, strong leash so that it is durable no matter what.

Food and water

Of course, if you’re going to be in the car for a long period, you need to make sure that you have the food and water you need for your dog. Note that cars can get particularly warm when it’s the summer. You need to keep your pet hydrated at all times and ensure that they have some air.

Bedding

Comfort is ultra important for your dog. If they are going to be sitting around for the entire journey, they need to be as cozy as possible. Invest in some quality bedding for the backseat of the car. You can get special dog seats online or just grab some quality throws and blankets.

Vaccination records

Before heading off, make sure that you go to the vets and get a copy of your pet’s vaccination records. Some campsites and the like will need to see these before letting your dog in. Having a copy of their medical information is always the best way forward.

Poop bags

When you walk your dog and they relieve themselves, you need to make sure that you clean it up! This is super important. Having poop bags with you is the best way to ensure that you are prepared. Again, you can buy these at pet stores or simply use sandwich bags instead!

Treats

Keeping your dog happy in the back of the car is uber important. So, where should you start? Well, taking a few of their favorite treats along with you may not be a bad idea. Take an extra large bag that will last the entire length of the trip.
