How to Fix My Dog’s Bad Breath

There’s nothing better than cuddling up close to your favorite dog in the world. There’s just one tiny, stinky little problem. Sometimes, our faithful hounds tend to have smelly breath. If you notice this and it’s a continuous issue, you need to do something about it. The problem will not just ‘go away’ overnight, as much as you may hope it does. Here are some tips that will help.

Get your dog’s teeth examined

The most obvious reason that your dog has smelly breath is that he or she has dental issues. This is an aspect of pet care that many owners tend to overlook for some reason. You need to make sure that your dog sees a specialist 1-2 times per year. That way, you can keep their teeth nice and clean!

Brush your dog’s teeth

Once you’ve got dental help for your dog, you need to maintain an oral care routine. Brushing your dog’s teeth might sound a little crazy, but it really does work. You can get canine brushes and paste online or, of course, from your vets. Talk to your dog’s vet about how to best go about this practice.

Invest in some chew toys

Does your pup have things they can chew on? You may not realize it right now, but chewing helps your dog to clean their teeth and ensures that they have nice breath. If your dog doesn’t happen to have any chew toys at home, that can be a huge issue. Why not invest in some safe rubber ones that they can nibble all the time? Doing so could make all the difference.

Feed your dog the right things

Is your dog’s diet healthy? You may not have considered the question before now, but it’s crucial that you do. Ensuring that your canine has the right food is essential to their health. What’s more, feeding them well means that their breath is likely to smell less than it does right now. Be sure to feed your dog plenty of dry food as well as fresh meat! (Oh, and lay off on the treats a little too!)

Get doggy dental treats

If you’re looking for a quick fix, why not get some doggy dental treats? These snacks clean your dog’s teeth as they eat which means that you don’t have to worry too much. You can get specialist dental hygiene treats online so it’s worth having a look now. If you do so, your dog should have better breath in no time at all!
