TLC Starlet Blayke Busby Warns About Not Feeding Dogs Grapes

Feeding dogs and keeping them healthy, often makes people think that if something is good for humans, then it’s fine for their furry friends. Not everyone knows what might be toxic to a dog or a cat, and Adam Busby, the patriarch of OutDaughtered on TLC was put right by his daughter Blayke. Is she correct in saying that he could kill their puppy, Gus, by feeding it grapes?

Feeding Dogs The Wrong Foods Can Be Toxic TLC Starlet Says

Adam Busby is well known as the dad of the five female quints, Riley, Olivia, Ava, Hazel, and Parker Kate. Their TV show, OutDaughtered also brings 11-year-old Blayke to the screen. Well, she clearly gets a good education, as she schooled her dad about feeding their puppy the wrong food. If you don’t watch the show, the Busbys have two dogs, a little Frenchie named Beaux, and a new puppy named Gus the Teddy.

Adam posted up a video on his It’s A Buzz World YouTube channel, about taking the kids fishing. Well, he revealed that he could learn something about feeding dogs. He explained that he prepared some bread and grapes to feed the ducks, which attracts fish. Well, he turned around and gave the begging pup, Gus a grape, and his daughter Blayke told him off. In fact, she said that he could “kill” their pup by feeding it things like grapes and certain types of peanut butter. Is she correct?

Is Feeding Dogs Grapes A Bad Thing?

According to Purina, TLC starlet Blayke is absolutely spot on about saying that grapes can be bad for dogs. The website explains that there are many fruits and veggies that dogs can tolerate, but grapes are a huge no-no.  Why is that? Well, they noted, “Both grapes and raisins are bad for dogs. They can cause severe reactions and may even be fatal.” Apparently, the fruit is toxic, and in severe circumstances, it can cause kidney failure.

Feeding dogs grapes might result in some alarming symptoms. These include “Lethargy or weakness,” “vomiting and/or diarrhea within a few hours of ingestion,” and more. Apparently, they might urinate too frequently, or stop urinating altogether which indicates dehydration. Abdominal swelling and pain could also point to them eating grapes.

What About Peanut Butter?

According to Blayke, feeding dogs certain types of peanut butter is also a bad idea. Is she correct ab0ut that as well? Well, The American Kennel Club verifies that in some instances, peanut butter can be bad for dogs. Their website admits that “most peanut butter is safe for dogs to eat, and in moderation, peanut butter can be an excellent source of protein and healthy fats, vitamins B and E, and niacin.” However, caution must be taken that it does not contain the sweetener xylitol.

Apparently, it is so toxic to dogs, that it can also prove fatal as it can cause the animals to rapidly increase their insulin. Untreated, the condition can actually kill your dog quite quickly.
