Canines can be enchanting and often, very funny. But for those who work with them in the media, they can also bring some embarrassing moments. Of course, people get a laugh about it when they see bloopers. Recently Ryan Seacrest from the Live with Kelly and Ryan show experienced a puppy running away from him during a lesson about obedience training.
Fortunately, a playful dog that appeared on Instagram this week can’t embarrass the person involved, because the person is actually a statue. Meri Brown from Sister Wives pointed out that there are plenty of things that people can learn from dogs. From playing games to dedicated loyalty and unconditional love, she felt that everyone could benefit from being more like pooches. Hopefully, not too many people actually confuse a statue with a living person.
Followers on the Goodnews Movement page saw that a black doggie tried to give a statue a ball to throw for it to play fetch. Clearly, the unresponsive “man” was not interested. Still, the pooch persisted for a long time. In the caption, the admin wrote, “I’m sure the statue would play if he could. An adorable pup! 🥎🐶” Plenty of people agreed it was really a cuter scene.
Interestingly, another playful dog on YouTube was filmed in the same place, doing the same thing. A Springer Spaniel played fetch with the statue in front of the exact same buildings. According to the Youtube post, credited to @Debby Taylor, the statue is found in Watchet Harbour, Somerset. The caption also noted, “His owner Debby Taylor, 54, from Crewe, Cheshire, was gobsmacked to discover Chester had [fallen] for the same old trick again as he had previously mistaken a statue for a human in the past.”
Hats off to whoever put up the statue because it looks like more than one playful dog mistook it for a real person. Do you have a story to share about your dog getting confused with something that isn’t alive? Share it in the comments below.
