A woman has shared a clip on TikTok, where she reminds humans that every rescue dog has a story. It is hard not to wonder where they came from and what they have gone through in their previous life. They made need endless patience until they come right and relax in their new home.

Every rescue dog has a backstory

Adopting, or rescuing a dog isn’t always easy. Depending on what happened in their past, they may settle in quickly in their new home. However, most of the time, a dog that is rescued is scared and hesitant to relax. This makes you want to know what happened for them to become an abandoned pet.

TikTok user, @kristenmarkowski recently shared her experience with a rescue dog. In the clip, she is sitting down with a dog who is clearly nervous to be around her. As she gradually makes friends with the cute canine, she notes that animals can’t share their stories about what happened to make them become abandoned. Markowski stresses that it is vital to have patience with your new doggie pal.

Love and patience are vital for a rescue dog

The video truly reminds us that dogs that are rescued have a backstory that we may never know. Were they a loving pet that was accidentally lost or escaped? Maybe the rescue dog was a Christmas gift as a puppy and discarded when it grew up. Sometimes female dogs are abandoned while pregnant and have given birth in the wild.

There are so many possibilities, but all animals should be treated with respect. However, when it comes to rescues, they need extra attention, love and patience. Give them the chance to come around and feel safe in their new environment, no matter how long it takes.

The TikTok video attracted many comments, with users sending their love. One wrote, “Omg when she reached her paw out. Sweet girl,” adding:

The sweetest baby we’ve ever seen! You can see she wanted some love and attention but was so scared. We just want to hold her and let her know no one is ever going to hurt her again!

Another TikTok user wrote, “She’s on the road to better days for sure.” Yet another person commented, “What a sweet girl. She’s ready to love someone again.”

In a further comment, a TikTok user wrote, “It physically hurts me to see animals frightened. Thank you to everyone who rescued an animal.”

Always remember, when you get a puppy, you must commit to the dog for its lifetime. Should you rescue a dog, have the patience for him or her to settle in. The reward is priceless, with endless, unconditional love for the family.
