We all know we should hit the gym once in a while in order to meet our fitness goals, but it isn’t always easy. However, for this dog, captured in a viral TikTok, working out on the treadmill is an absolute breeze. What a great idea if you are short on time but want to take your dog on a long walk!

Dog casually uses a treadmill at the gym

Let’s face it, working out is more enjoyable if you have a gym partner, as it does increase your chances of keeping fit. However, while most of us would think a gym partner should be human, others find it better to partner up with a dog.

TikTok user @gabitabel3 recently posted a clip of a dog, working out on a treadmill at Planet Fitness in the Bronx. The small black dog seems to be enjoying himself as he strolls on the treadmill, while the time of the workout was almost an hour long.  Meanwhile, the brief TikTok has attracted more than one million views.

Among the comments, one user noted, “People who think an hour dog walk is long clearly don’t own a dog lmfao.” Meanwhile, another wrote, “The dog turned around like “ oh here’s another person recording me while I work out .”

Keeping your dog fit even in bad weather

Dog people know so well that living in an apartment or house without a yard can make life difficult for exercising your doggie pal. Meanwhile, walking on a treadmill is a great form of exercise, not only for humans but also for dogs. However, there are a number of things to take into account when exercising your pup at the gym.

To start with, introduce your dog to the treadmill slowly and in a positive manner. Start out by turning on the treadmill, and then let your dog check it out when it’s turned off. Once the dog is used to it, slowly turn it on and let your canine fitness enthusiast get used to the movement.

As with most training, use positive reinforcement, giving the furball treats and praise to get him going. Start with short stints on the treadmill and then gradually increase the speed and length of the workout.

Most importantly, use a harness to secure your dog to the treadmill, so they don’t fall off or get injured. Meanwhile, also supervise your dog while on the treadmill to ensure their safety. Most importantly, ensure your pup is enjoying the experience. Readers can enjoy a second TikTok of the doggie workout below.
